William and Mary Period, Chinese Export Coramandel Lacquer Chest. The incised and coloured lacquer decoration on a black ground, on the top, depicting an accompanied nobleman riding through a landscape and on the front, a family at leasure in a rural setting. The end panels with floral decoration. The chest with an engraved brass lock and hasp, brass swan neck carrying handles and gilt brass hinges, and mounted on associated but period Walnut bun feet and with a new base moulding.
Kangxi Period (1662-1722)
A similar chest can be seen in the collection at the Rijksmuseum , Amsterdam.
