"Mercury" Glass Taza, in two parts, both glass pieces, taza and base with etched vine leaf border ornament to the outside, the inside silvered and gilded in the bowl and with stopper seals to preserve silvering.
This is an exceptionaal piece of "Mercury" Glass, the silvering technique is in fact done with a solution of silver nitrate and grape sugar and heated. this technique dates to 1840 and coinsides with the invention of photography.
