Painted settle, in painted pine, of simple box form and of small size, with boarded back and seat and cut out arms and sides and base board, painted all over in deep maroon (originally green) apart from a vignette view after the antique, on the back, with a romantic landcape depicting a castle in the distance, with cattle in the foreground drinking beside a lake in a wooded countryside, in the style of Claude.
